about

This is the first excursion in to the vaults of the King Syndrome Sound.

This compilation features tracks by The Mighty Quark and Bacuzzi that were previously only available on vinyl and CD.

A fine blend of dub, house, jazz, electronica with vocals - a unique timeless sound.

In 1999 a 10 inch single (Smokescreen/Theme from Ian Hendricks disco, on new Swedish based label King Syndrome Sounds) meandered on to the playlists of DJ's and artists such as Leftfield, Andrew Weatherall, The Orb. Smokescreen a deep dub odyssey featured Danny Rowlands on guitar. Danny had a long history from the reggae scene in London in the late 70's and 80's. playing guitar with Gregory Issacs, Delroy Wilson and many others. Theme from Ian Hendricks disco is a quirky funky reggae number that is rumoured to have been the prototype for the Skweee sound that came out of Stockholm in the late part of the first decade of the 2000''s.
Another 10 inch single followed 3 Way Dub/ Quiet Life. 3 Way Dub is a melodic deep dub excursion founded on a rhythm reminiscent of Sly and Robbie.

An album- Ian Hendrick Disco followed and in early 2000, The Mighty Quark were invited to remix the Leftfield single 'Chant of a Poorman', released in 2000.

The Mighty Quark went on to release one more album- Silverdale, on Tokyo based label Play.

In 2001 The track Sundays Child was released on 12 inch (under the alias Bacuzzi). The track featured Idha (Creation records) with a sublime vocal and Andy Bell (Oasis, Ride) providing some exquisite guitar and an infectious bass line. The track with its video (cost 50 euro) featured regularly on MTV alternative music programs and went on to feature on numerous compilation albums worldwide.

Kid Loco's excellent dub remix of the Bacuzzi track "Why" is also featured on this compilation.

The Bacuzzi album -Flower Lodge was released in 2001 .
